The Chicago Botanic Garden, with its world-renown plant collections and displays, is one of the nation's most-visited public gardens and a preeminent center for learning and scientific research. Their mission is to promote the enjoyment, understanding, and conservation of plants and the natural world. The Chicago Horticultural Society began creation of the gardens in 1965 and opened to the public in 1972, using the gardens to carry out this mission.
