Notes
During this observation, the garden phlox was in an early stage of seasonal growth. Several young stems with bright green leaves were emerging from the base of the plant. The surrounding soil appeared exposed and somewhat dry on the surface, with small weeds and groundcover plants growing nearby. The plant was receiving plenty of sunlight and showed no visible signs of damage or stress. No flower buds or blooms were present at this time, indicating that the phlox was still focused on developing foliage and strengthening its stems. Overall, the plant appeared healthy and continued to establish itself as spring temperatures warmed in the Chicago area.
