Unlike I’ve seen with the milkweed flowers when bees, wasps and flies seem to jump from flower head to flower head in frenetic way, With the golden rod the wasps were calmly going from flower to flower, almost meticulously. The flies also were going from flower to flower mostly, there was some bouncing to other flower stems but seem much less hurried. There was some little black beetle on one of the flowers stems about the size of a ball pin head.. There were also two ‘baby’ lightening bugs. They were very small as opposed to the lightening bugs I have in my yard, so I presume they are a different type of firefly. They were wandering all over the golden flowers. Was surprised by the lack of bees today.
