Giant sacaton is found mainly in the southwestern United States. It has been used to revegetate stream banks in saline areas. Giant sacaton leaves begin growth in the summer and winter, fully emerging generally in the spring. It can flower between April and October, depending on which part of the southwest it is in. It mainly reproduces via seed.
