Identification hints

Prairie Brome is an attractive grass that remains fairly short; it has greyish blue leaves and a nodding inflorescence that changes color as it matures. Prairie Brome can be distinguished from other Brome Grasses by noting that it is more hairy than most Brome Grasses, especially on the surface of its sheaths and spikelets. Also, each of its culms has only 3-5 alternate leaves, while other Brome grasses sometimes have more leaves at their base.
