Identification hints
This coastal species has leathery leaf blades that often grow 2.5 feet in length. Its spectacular flower extends beyond the leaves and is fragrant, white, with six thin 5-inch long petals.
Did you know?
This particular species of Spider lily is found primarily in Florida and Texas. The white flowers are quite fragrant. Once they have finished blooming, large, oval-shaped capsules, 1-3 inches long develop.

ATTRIBUTES
Leaves
Leathery strap-like leaf blades grow from the bulb without a central stem (rosette), each leaf often reaching 2.5' in length.
Flowers
The leafless flowering stalk (scape) grows from the center of the leaves, extending beyond the leaves. 10-16 white, fragrant flowers are borne at the end of the stalk. Each flower has a 5-6" long tube with six 5" long thin and delicate petals that curve down and away from the flower's center. A white, daffodil-like corona (stamen cup) at the center has 6 long and slender stamens.
Fruits
Fruit is a green, round capsule up to 3/4" in diameter.
