The Niagara Parks Botanical Gardens and School of Horticulture was established in 1936 as a training school for apprentice gardeners within the Niagara Parks Commission. The Botanical Gardens serves as a unique outdoor classroom for hands-on, year-round training for School of Horticulture students. Visitors from around the world can explore 40 hectares of gardens maintained by dedicated staff and students that feature annuals, perennials, rhododendrons, hydrangeas, a formal parterre garden, herb and vegetable plantings, pollinator plantings, and a world-famous rose garden featuring over 2,000 roses across 65 cultivars.
