The Pennsylvania DCNR Bureau of Forestry’s mission is to ensure the long-term health, viability, and productivity of the commonwealth’s forests and to conserve native wild plants. The DCNR Bureau of Forestry is responsible for:
• 2.2 million acres of state forest lands
• Forest fire management across the commonwealth
• Forest insect and disease control and management
• Conservation of Pennsylvania’s native wild plants, including the PA Natural Diversity Inventory
• Promoting the conservation of all Pennsylvania's forest land -- both public and private.
The Pennsylvania Bureau of Forestry is dedicated to monitoring ecological changes on our state forest land as the climate changes so we can adapt our management practices to maintain healthy forests. We are excited to begin tracking blooming time of our state flower, mountain laurel, across Pennsylvania and look forward to expanding our efforts to include other species in the future.
Becoming a part of Budburst is easy—and important. When we all contribute to conservation efforts like this one, we’re one step closer to preserving the planet we share.
