With a mission of exploring, explaining and celebrating the world of plants, the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden inspires and engages visitors through education, experience and exploration. As a renowned cultural institution, the Botanical Garden cultivates diverse plants and connects people to the environment surrounding them. From our storied Bonsai collection to uncommon plant species (like Carrie the Corpse Flower) to over seven acres of outdoor gardens, there’s something of interest for gardening enthusiasts and casual observers alike.
Our primary involvement with BudBurst will consist of observations from phenology volunteers. This group of volunteers, which has been active since 2017, will transition to sharing pertinent observations via BudBurst. As we become more familiar with the platform, we hope to incorporate BudBurst into educational programming as well, from summer camp, to family workshops, to adult education programs.
Becoming a part of Budburst is easy—and important. When we all contribute to conservation efforts like this one, we’re one step closer to preserving the planet we share.
